The string is not as thick as the original but works fine. Watch the knuckles if string not captured upon clocking. Xbow did not come with a cocking string but I can pull it back with my hands. Plus, it was almost half the price of the local outdoor stores product. This is sturdy and works very well. Compared to the rope the crank makes cocking the bow wayyyy easy. Took me about thirty min to figure it out.
